About the job General Accountant

DBOS is looking for a General Accountant who is skilled to perform tasks relating to motor vehicle fleet, as well as other accounting related ad hoc tasks. The General Accountant is expected to contribute to the improvement of efficiencies of the team and/or organisation as well as provide backup support during leave or other absences within the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Onboarding/offboarding and maintaining fleet in our Rental Car system
  • Maintain fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, transfers, and reconciliations
  • Prepare end of month lease liability reconciliations for monthly reporting
  • Arrange new finance quotes for vehicles with Financiers as directed by the CFO
  • Arrange invoices for vehicles sold through Auto Dealership and following up payment.
  • Register and removing PPSR registrations for vehicles
  • Maintain Fleet schedule encompassing all owned and leased vehicles.
  • Perform ad hoc duties as requested by the CFO, Financial Controller or Fleet Manager
  • Cross train of tasks within the team including Accounts Payable and Banking, to provide backup support during leave or other absences.
  • Provide accurate and timely responses to any queries from branches or other internal and external parties
  • Accomplish departmental objectives ensuring accuracy and attention to detail are of highest priority.
  • Other duties as requested
  • Identify ways to improve existing processes and systems in Finance and other areas of Corporate Services and make recommendations to Financial Controller

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably with experience in fleet management
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement process improvements
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to fleet management is a plus
