CFO Assistant and Managing Accountant

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Managing Accountant to join our finance team and work closely with the CFO. This role is a blend of leadership, technical accounting expertise, and team collaboration. The Managing Accountant will support the CFO directly while also working amongst the accounts team to ensure compliance, efficiency, and accuracy in all areas of financial management.

This position is suited to someone who can balance hands-on accounting tasks with higher-level financial oversight, is confident using NetSuite, and is comfortable stepping in as back-up to the CFO when required.

Key Responsibilities

• CFO Support & Back-Up
• Act as a trusted assistant to the CFO, providing financial insights and support in strategic decision-making.
• Step in as back-up during the CFOs absence to ensure continuity of financial leadership.
• Compliance & Controls
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, taxation requirements, payroll legislation, and corporate policies.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls, policies, and procedures.
• Lead preparation for audits and regulatory reviews.
• Accounting Operations
• Work closely with the accounts team to oversee daily operations including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and reconciliations.
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting through NetSuite.
• Financial Management & Reporting
• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
• Monitor financial performance and highlight risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
• Contribute to business planning, cashflow management, and investment analysis.
• Team Collaboration & Development
• Actively support and mentor team members within the accounts department.
• Foster a culture of accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement.
• Encourage cross-department collaboration to align finance with operational goals.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/CA or equivalent qualification preferred).
• 5+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or audit roles.
• Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards, tax compliance, and payroll.
• Proven ability to implement and monitor internal controls and compliance frameworks.
• Proficiency in NetSuite (preferred) experience using it for reporting, reconciliations, and process management.
• Advanced Excel and strong financial systems knowledge.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
