Position Purpose
The HR Officer will provide professional human resources administrative and operational support to the HR Manager and the wider organisation. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with Queensland workplace legislation and company policies, and plays a key role in managing employee lifecycle activities such as onboarding, offboarding, disciplinary processes, and maintaining accurate HR records.
Key Responsibilities
HR Administration & Compliance
- Prepare, review, and maintain HR documentation including contracts, disciplinary letters, and general correspondence.
- Ensure all policies, procedures, and HR practices comply with relevant Queensland legislation, awards, and regulations.
- Assist with policy reviews and updates in line with legislative changes and best practice standards.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in the HRIS and filing systems.
Onboarding & Offboarding
- Coordinate the end-to-end onboarding process including preparing employment packs, collecting required documentation, scheduling inductions, and system access.
- Support managers and employees with offboarding activities including exit interviews, return of property, final documentation, and deactivation of access.
- Ensure onboarding and offboarding checklists are completed in a timely and compliant manner.
Employee Relations & Support
- Draft and issue disciplinary letters and other formal communication under the guidance of the HR Manager.
- Support the HR Manager in handling employee relations matters and workplace investigations.
- Act as a first point of contact for basic HR queries from employees and managers, escalating issues as required.
HR Systems & Reporting
- Assist with maintaining the HR database and ensure employee information is current and accurate.
- Prepare reports and documentation for compliance and workforce planning as required.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in HR processes and systems.
Key Selection Criteria
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 2 years experience in an HR administrative or officer role (experience in remote/virtual environments desirable).
- Strong understanding of Queensland employment legislation, Modern Awards, and HR compliance requirements.
- Experience in preparing disciplinary letters and other formal HR correspondence.
- Demonstrated experience in onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HR information systems.
