Data Integration Specialist / Data Engineer (ETL / Integration)

A leading enterprise organisation within the financial services sector is seeking an experienced Senior Data Integration Specialist to join its technology team on a 12-month contract.

The role is based in Sandton, Johannesburg, operating in a hybrid working model with a minimum of 3 days per week in office. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of enterprise-scale data integration solutions, primarily using the AB Initio platform, within a complex and regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support ETL and data integration solutions using AB Initio

• Build high-performance, scalable batch data processing solutions

• Participate across the full System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

• Deliver solutions within an Agile delivery framework

• Translate business and functional requirements into technical designs

• Ensure data quality, reconciliation, lineage, and auditability

• Collaborate with architecture, business analysis, and delivery teams

• Adhere to enterprise architecture, governance, and security standards

• Prepare technical documentation and support stakeholder engagement

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven hands-on experience with AB Initio (mandatory)

• Strong knowledge of ETL processes and data warehousing concepts

• Experience working within enterprise integration architectures

• Strong SQL skills for data analysis and validation

• Understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

• Experience working in large-scale or regulated environments (advantageous)

Qualifications

• Essential:
  IT / IS / Engineering / BSc Computer Science Degree or Diploma

• Preferred:
  AB Initio and/or integration-specific certifications

Location & Work Model

• Location: Sandton, Johannesburg

• Work Model: Hybrid (minimum 3 days per week in office)

• Contract Duration: 12 months
