About the job SAP Warehouse & Supply Chain SME - Contracting role
Duration: 6–7 Months (with potential for extension or long-term engagement)
We are seeking a hands-on SAP Warehouse & Supply Chain Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a major warehouse optimisation and process reengineering initiative within a high-volume telecommunications environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in stabilising, redesigning, and optimising warehouse operations, with a strong focus on leveraging SAP Materials Management (SAP MM) and related warehouse functionality.
This role requires a practical operator who can work closely with warehouse teams, translate SAP capability into real operational improvement, and drive sustainable process discipline.
Key Responsibilities
1. Warehouse Assessment & Stabilisation
Conduct a detailed assessment of existing warehouse operations
Review end-to-end processes including:
o Receiving and put-away
o Storage and inventory control
o Picking, packing, and dispatch
o Inter-warehouse transfers
Evaluate current SAP usage vs best practice
Identify process gaps, inefficiencies, and control risks
Deliver a structured assessment and improvement roadmap
2. Process Reengineering & Optimisation
Redesign warehouse processes aligned to:
o SAP MM standard functionality
o Industry-leading warehouse best practices
Improve:
o Stock accuracy and visibility
o Warehouse transfer processes
o Operational efficiency and control discipline
Ensure minimal customisation by leveraging SAP standard capabilities
Support both central and regional warehouse environments
3. Implementation & Training
Support implementation of redesigned processes
Develop and deliver end-user SAP training
Drive adoption and behavioural change across warehouse teams
Strengthen stock accountability and operational discipline
Ensure sustainable usage of SAP in daily operations
Required Skills & Experience
- SAP Expertise
- Strong hands-on experience in SAP Materials Management (SAP MM) (essential)
- Exposure to SAP WM / EWM (advantageous)
- Proven ability to operate SAP in live warehouse environments
- Warehouse & Supply Chain Experience
- Solid background in warehouse operations management
- Experience in multi-site / high-volume warehouse environments
- Strong understanding of:
- o Inventory and stock control principles
- o Warehouse workflows and logistics processes
- Supply Chain or Logistics qualification (advantageous)
- Functional Expertise
- Business process analysis and optimisation
- Process reengineering and operational improvement
- Change management and end-user training
- Ability to work effectively on the warehouse floor
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Practical, hands-on operator (not purely theoretical or advisory)
- Strong problem-solver who can stabilise and fix broken processes
- Comfortable working on-site in warehouse environments
- Able to bridge the gap between SAP systems and operational teams
- Willing to travel between warehouse locations when required
