Intermediate IT Project Manager (6 Month Contract)

 Job Description:

The Intermediate Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of all assigned projects for The Client within complex, multi-vendor enterprise environments. This includes ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards, while operating in alignment with established PMO delivery methodologies, governance frameworks, and quality standards.

The role acts as a central coordination and governance point across multiple internal teams and third-party vendors, managing interdependencies, risks, and delivery alignment to achieve both organisational and client-specific objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery & Integration Management

  • Lead and manage projects and/or programmes within complex enterprise landscapes, often involving multiple delivery streams, systems, and vendors.
  • Own end-to-end delivery accountability, ensuring integrated delivery across all vendor and internal workstreams.
  • Manage cross-vendor dependencies, hand-offs, and sequencing to ensure cohesive delivery against the integrated project plan.

Client, Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Act as the primary coordination and governance lead between The Client, internal delivery teams, and multiple third-party vendors.
  • Manage vendor relationships on behalf of The Client, ensuring vendors deliver in line with agreed scope, timelines, quality standards, and contractual commitments.
  • Drive alignment across vendors, resolving conflicts, managing competing priorities, and ensuring shared accountability for outcomes.
  • Monitor vendor performance against milestones and deliverables, proactively identifying and addressing risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Lead vendor-related escalations through appropriate governance forums, ensuring transparency and timely resolution.

Governance, Planning & Reporting

  • Establish and maintain robust multi-vendor governance structures, including integrated plans, RAID logs, dependency maps, and escalation paths.
  • Manage and communicate consolidated project status to The Client and internal stakeholders, incorporating progress, risks, issues, and dependencies across all vendors and delivery streams.
  • Ensure adherence to PMO standards and enterprise governance requirements across all participating vendors.

PMO, Planning & Delivery Control

  • Develop and maintain a fully integrated master project plan in MS Projects, consolidating vendor and internal plans, dependencies, milestones, and critical paths.
  • Ensure consistent application of delivery standards, reporting, and documentation across vendors.
  • Coordinate and drive enterprise-level delivery activities including analysis and design, build, testing, integration, cut-over, go-live, hyper-care, and transition to support across all vendors.

Financial & Commercial Management (Enterprise Context)

  • Manage overall project financials, including internal costs, revenue, and gross profit tracking.
  • Support The Client in managing vendor commercial oversight, including milestone tracking, invoice validation, and alignment to agreed contractual and delivery milestones.
  • Highlight and manage financial risks arising from vendor delays, scope changes, or dependency impacts.

Risk, Issue & Dependency Management

  • Proactively identify and manage cross-vendor risks, issues, and dependencies inherent in complex enterprise environments.
  • Drive early escalation and resolution of vendor-related delivery risks to minimise downstream impacts.

Experience & Capability

  • 2–3 years project management experience within IT or Professional Services environments, including exposure to multi-vendor and enterprise-scale projects.
  • Ideally experienced in delivering enterprise technology initiatives, such as SAP or similar large-scale business systems, data platforms, or integrated enterprise solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple delivery partners within structured governance frameworks.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills across technical, commercial, and executive audiences.
  • Project management certifications (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, Agile certifications) are advantageous.
