The SQL DBA and Data Informaticist (DBA) is responsible for providing architectural, engineering, and technical support for the database environment, including overseeing the development and organization of the databases, assessment, and implementation of new technologies, and providing Information Technology with a long-term perspective on the relationship of database technology to the business opportunities facing the company. It is extremely important to the company that online processing database systems offer the highest reliability and performance possible.

The DBA is challenged to work with architecture, application development, and operations staff members to help achieve a state-of-the-art environment that meets current and future business objectives. The DBA trains and develops technical support and applications staff to better utilize online processing databases environment. Provides and designs tools to assist in managing the database and transaction processing environment. The DBA works to provide a working model of our transaction processing environment for capacity assessment and planning.

In the Data Informaticist, the DBA is responsible for Data Modeling and Data Extract Transformation and Load (ETL)of the Azure Data Mart(s) necessary to support business reporting. The ETL activities will primarily utilize Azure Data Factory and SQL tools. The Data Mart(s) will be optimized to support an Azure Power BI instance for Informatics reporting KPIs and other desired data for all aspects of the business: Human Resources, Timekeeping, Scheduling, Finance, and Clinical. In this role, the DBA will work directly with Business Users, Application teams, the Database Administrator, and Vendors to analyze, identify, design, and implement processes for sourcing data from various internal as well as external sources leveraging Operational Data Store and Data Mart concepts to facilitate timely, reliable and secure delivery of Data-driven reports and analytics to our customers and partners.

The DBA will be part of a team of Subject Matter Experts on Data Mining, Business Informatics, and Reporting for the company. The DBA's primary responsibility within this team is creating and maintaining the SQL databases and the ETL of data to individual data marts.



Experience Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Systems Administration, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred;
  • 5-7 years of demonstrated experience working in a healthcare environment supporting similar systems with at least two of the below qualifications are required without Bachelors Degree.

  • Requires certification in at least one of the following areas and an ability to keep certifications up to date as technology Progresses:
    • Azure Administration
    • Azure SQL
    • Azure Data Factory
    • Microsoft Power BI Administration and Development

  • 4-5 Years of IT operation with Expert Level Skill in support of MS SQL Databases
    • Demonstrates a thorough and complete understanding of the SQL system architecture and best practices.
    • Ability to review and understand relational database schema of various vendor and custom SQL databases
    • Able to recommend best practices in the setup, administration, and use of the system
    • Able to develop data marts or other database structures for the mining and reporting of data from transactional systems
    • Able to instruct end users and IS Staff on all aspects of the system
    • Able to set up and use proactive monitoring and management of the system
    • Exhibits an ownership mentality concerning the system. They must be the go-to person for any issues and projects. They are an advocate for the systems use within the organization
    • Exhibits a strong desire to learn all aspects of the system. Pursues opportunities to learn both on the job and through formal instruction online or in the classroom. Demonstrates a desire to continuously improve their knowledge and expertise.
