Job Title: Project Accountant
Job Summary:
The Project Accountant is responsible for managing the financial aspects of construction projects, from the initial budgeting stage through to the final accounting. They work closely with the project management team, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure that all costs are accurately estimated, that expenses are properly recorded and tracked, and that the project stays within budget. The Project Accountant is also responsible for ensuring that all financial transactions comply with local regulations and accounting standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare cost estimates and budgets for construction projects, working closely with the project management team, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Analyze and evaluate contractor and subcontractor bids, ensuring that they are accurate and that all costs are accounted for.
- Monitor project expenses and costs, comparing actual costs to budget and identifying any discrepancies.
- Manage the payment process for contractors and subcontractors, ensuring that all invoices are accurate and that payments are made on time.
- Prepare financial reports and forecasts, providing regular updates to the project management team and other stakeholders.
- Ensure that all financial transactions comply with local regulations and accounting standards.
- Manage project budgets and expenses, ensuring that all project costs are properly documented and accounted for.
- Provide guidance and support to the project management team, including contractors and subcontractors, to ensure that they are working to the best of their abilities.
- Identify and resolve any financial issues that arise during the construction process, and make changes to plans as necessary.
- Prepare and submit tax returns and other financial documents as required by local regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with a proven track record of successful project management.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes and regulations, as well as accounting standards and practices.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in accounting software and other relevant tools.
