About the job Head of Payments

Our client, a leading GovTech provider, is seeking a strategic and hands-on leader to oversee and expand their payments business. This role owns the strategy, execution, and growth of payments with a focus on adoption, profitability, and risk management. It is a high-impact position requiring deep payments expertise and strong cross-functional leadership.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and serve as the primary driver for the payments business
  • Build and optimize monetization strategies, pricing models, and incentives that drive profitability
  • Streamline and unify multiple payments programs operating under varied models, aligning strategies, pricing, partners, and processes to create a cohesive, scalable payments organization
  • Partner with Sales, Customer Success, Support, Product, and Finance to ensure alignment and execution
  • Manage relationships with vendors and payment partners
  • Identify and onboard new partners to support scale and innovation
  • Oversee payments-related risk management and compliance
  • Improve processing economics and drive adoption of higher-margin payment types
  • Own payments performance metrics, reporting, and forecasting across business units
  • Collaborate across teams to enhance payments capabilities and client experience
  • Develop and execute go-to-market playbooks that accelerate payments adoption and retention
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, contractual, and operational standards

What You Bring

  • Proven success building and scaling a payments function within a vertical SaaS or fintech business
  • Deep expertise in payments pricing, packaging, and monetization strategies
  • Experience leading go-to-market execution and driving payments adoption
  • Strong understanding of processing economics, profitability levers, and vendor management
  • Direct experience negotiating and managing processor and partner relationships
  • Technical understanding of payment flows, integrations, and platform migrations
  • Experience managing financial and operational risk in payments
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and influence at all levels
  • Analytical and data-driven mindset with strong communication and presentation skills
  • Experience owning payment operations P&L and delivering sustainable growth
