Senior Technical Product Manager, Payments

Our client is a well-established software company that provides an integrated technology platform supporting a broad range of business operations and customer transactions. Payments are an important part of its platform, and the company is making a significant investment in expanding its payments technology and building more of its payments infrastructure internally.

They are seeking a Technical Product Manager with deep merchant acquiring and payments experience to help define and build a payments platform from the ground up. This role requires someone who understands payments at a technical level and knows how to translate payment functionality and business needs into detailed technical requirements for engineering.

The ideal candidate understands how payment gateways, processors, card networks, banks, and other components of the acquiring ecosystem interact. This person will work closely with engineering to define payment functionality, identify dependencies, support testing, and help make product decisions as the platform is developed.

What You Will Do

• Define product and technical requirements for payment functionality.
• Translate business and functional needs into clear technical requirements and specifications for engineering.
• Work directly with engineering to define payment flows, functionality, integrations, and technical dependencies.
• Help define payment capabilities across credit, debit, ACH, RTP, and other payment methods.
• Participate in discovery, whiteboarding, and architecture discussions to determine how payment functionality should work.
• Define requirements for integrations with gateways, processors, card networks, financial institutions, and other payments partners.
• Support functional and technical testing to ensure payment functionality meets defined requirements.
• Identify product dependencies, technical considerations, and gaps throughout the development process.
• Work with technical and business stakeholders to refine requirements as individual platform components are developed.
• Help evaluate payment routing and network decisions based on functionality, cost, and other business requirements.
• Apply AI tools to accelerate requirements development, documentation, and other product workflows.

What You Bring

• Deep experience with merchant acquiring and payment transaction processing.
• Technical Product Management experience within payments or fintech.
• Strong understanding of payment gateways, processors, card networks, acquiring banks, and end-to-end payment transaction flows.
• Experience writing detailed functional and technical product requirements for engineering teams.
• Experience working directly with developers and technical teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Knowledge of credit, debit, ACH, RTP, and related payment methods.
• Experience supporting functional and technical testing of payment products and integrations.
• Ability to take complex payment functionality and clearly translate it into technical requirements.
• Strong understanding of how different components of a payments architecture interact and the dependencies between them.
