About the job Business Development Executive- AP Automation
Our client, a Financial Institution in growth mode, is seeking a Business Development Executive, AP Automation to drive adoption of bank-sponsored payables automation solutions across middle market, large corporate, and enterprise clients, typically $50MM+ in annual revenue. This is a senior, relationship-driven sales role partnering closely with Commercial Relationship Managers and Treasury Management Advisors to embed AP automation into broader treasury, payments, liquidity, and credit relationships. The role serves as a subject matter expert for Accounts Payable Automation and procure-to-pay transformation, helping clients improve payables processes, working capital performance, controls, and operational efficiency.
What You Will Do:
- Partner with Commercial Relationship Managers and Treasury Management Advisors to identify AP automation opportunities within existing credit, treasury, and payments relationships.
- Integrate payables automation solutions into broader client strategies to strengthen primary bank relationships, wallet share, and retention.
- Participate in joint client calls, portfolio reviews, and relationship planning sessions.
- Advise finance, treasury, and AP leaders on payables strategy, controls, and operational efficiency.
- Lead consultative discovery sessions to assess payables processes, ERP environments, payment mix, and automation maturity.
- Design and position AP automation solutions using bank-partner platforms and supported technologies.
- Align solution design with bank risk, compliance, data security, and operational requirements.
- Partner with product, implementation, and operations teams to support onboarding and ongoing client satisfaction.
- Originate new AP automation opportunities within assigned portfolios and targeted prospect lists.
- Support new-to-bank acquisition by differentiating the Financial Institution through payables and working capital solutions.
- Collaborate with Treasury Management Advisors on pipeline development, opportunity qualification, pricing strategy, and proposal development.
- Use data, portfolio analytics, and industry insights to prioritize high-impact opportunities.
- Build relationships with external partners, including accounting firms, advisory consultants, ERP integrators, and industry groups.
- Represent the Financial Institution at industry events, client forums, and educational sessions focused on treasury, finance transformation, and working capital.
- Manage the sales process in coordination with relationship teams, from opportunity identification through solution delivery.
- Achieve assigned revenue, pipeline, and solution adoption goals.
- Maintain accurate CRM documentation and comply with internal sales governance, risk, and reporting requirements.
What You Bring:
- Experience selling Accounts Payable Automation or procure-to-pay solutions.
- Experience selling AP Automation products to middle market, large corporate, or enterprise clients.
- Strong understanding of commercial banking products, treasury services, and how payables fit into broader cash management strategies.
- Experience selling complex, consultative solutions to middle market and enterprise clients in a relationship-oriented banking environment and/or through direct prospecting.
- Demonstrated success meeting revenue and growth targets while supporting long-term client relationships.
- Experience working with Commercial Relationship Managers and Treasury Management teams.
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, and Workday.
- Familiarity with bank-hosted payables platforms.
- Strong understanding of working capital metrics, including payment timing, cash forecasting, and liquidity optimization.
- Knowledge of bank risk, compliance, and information security considerations related to payments and data integration.
