Our client, a cloud based provider of ERP and payment technology for local governments and utility districts, is hiring a Director of Merchant Services to lead its merchant acquiring and payment operations function. This role oversees ISO and PayFac activities, drives portfolio growth, and leads a team responsible for onboarding, underwriting, risk, and partner support.
What You Do
- Lead and develop a team of merchant services professionals with clear goals, KPIs, and performance standards.
- Drive strategy for ISO and PayFac growth, including portfolio expansion and merchant activation.
- Oversee onboarding, underwriting, and risk review for new merchants.
- Guide the integration of card payment solutions and ongoing merchant support.
- Manage day to day merchant services operations, including sales support, technical onboarding, and service workflows.
- Work across compliance, finance, and technology teams to align operations with company goals.
- Ensure full adherence to regulatory requirements, card brand rules, and industry standards.
- Maintain strong controls, risk mitigation practices, and compliance oversight.
- Serve as a point of contact for acquiring banks, processors, gateways, and payment networks.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with partners, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Represent the organization in industry conversations and partner engagements.
What You Bring
- 7 years in merchant services, payments, or financial services, including 3 years in a leadership role.
- Deep understanding of ISO and PayFac models, card processing, and merchant acquiring.
- Record of leading teams and managing complex operational workflows.
- Strong knowledge of compliance, risk, and regulatory requirements in payments.
- Clear communication skills with strong analytical and strategic thinking.
- Experience working with processors, gateways, and acquiring banks.
- Familiarity with PCI DSS, KYC, AML, and related compliance standards.
