About the job Head of Consumer Credit Cards
Our client is a financial institution with a national footprint. This role owns the end to end strategy, performance, and growth of the consumer credit card portfolio, with full accountability for product direction, profitability, risk, customer outcomes and full P&L.
What You Will Do
- Own the consumer credit card business, setting product strategy, growth priorities, and portfolio objectives tied to long term revenue and profitability targets.
- Define and execute a multi year product roadmap aligned to enterprise goals, approved budgets, and portfolio KPIs.
- Lead development of new credit card products, features, pricing, and benefits based on customer behavior, market trends, and portfolio economics.
- Partner closely with technology and design teams to improve digital experiences, servicing journeys, and cardholder engagement.
- Drive customer acquisition strategy across new to bank and existing customer segments through targeting, offers, and portfolio optimization.
- Lead cross functional partners across marketing, analytics, technology, and credit risk to execute campaigns and ongoing portfolio initiatives.
- Use customer data and performance insights to refine value propositions, improve retention, and increase lifetime value.
- Maintain full accountability for regulatory compliance, internal policy adherence, and industry standards across all card products.
- Oversee credit, fraud, and operational risk frameworks, adjusting policies based on portfolio performance and economic conditions.
- Lead, develop, and mentor a team of product leaders while fostering strong collaboration across partner teams.
- Own financial performance, including revenue growth, expense discipline, utilization, losses, and charge off performance.
- Provide regular updates to senior leadership on portfolio results, risks, and strategic priorities.
- Manage external partnerships with networks, fintech partners, vendors, and credit bureaus, including commercial terms and performance outcomes.
What You Bring
- Bachelors degree in business, finance, economics, marketing, or a related field.
- 10+ years of financial services experience with deep ownership of consumer credit card or retail banking products.
- Senior leadership experience managing large scale card portfolios with full P&L responsibility.
- Strong command of credit risk management, regulatory requirements, and portfolio analytics within consumer credit.
- Proven background launching and scaling card products, features, and digital experiences.
- Experience partnering with marketing, analytics, technology, and risk teams in complex environments.
- Financial acumen across revenue modeling, cost management, and profitability drivers.
- Track record building and leading high performing product teams.
- Experience working with payment networks and third party vendors.
- Direct experience with mobile banking and digital card platforms.
- Exposure to fintech partnerships or modern payments ecosystems.
- Familiarity with data driven credit decisioning or advanced analytics in portfolio management.
