Job Openings General Manager - Payments

About the job General Manager - Payments

Our client is a high-growth SaaS company serving a large base of small and mid-sized businesses. The platform supports mission critical workflows tied to accounts payable and payouts, creating a clear opportunity to embed outbound payments directly into daily customer operations. Payments is a core product and revenue focus, with meaningful existing payout activity already in motion.

The purpose of this role is to embed outbound payments into the core SaaS workflow and scale them into a trusted, high-volume, revenue-generating product that increases customer engagement and retention. The Payments General Manager owns the strategy and execution required to build and scale a payout and disbursements business into a significant driver of revenue and product engagement. Payments is a board level priority, and the role is designed for a hands-on leader with experience scaling payments inside a SaaS environment who wants direct ownership across product, operations, risk, and commercialization.

What You Will Do

  • Own the end-to-end payments business, including product adoption, operational execution, risk management, and economics.
  • Scale an existing accounts payable and payout platform by driving attach rate across a large SMB customer base of over 300,000.
  • Translate existing off-platform payment activity into in-product adoption.
  • Identify and resolve risk, fraud, and bank related constraints that limit scale. Work directly with bank partners and payment vendors to improve approval flows, controls, and throughput.
  • Lead go-to-market execution for payments, including cross-sell and upsell motions within the core SaaS workflow.
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering to prioritize improvements that remove friction, improve reliability, and support scale.
  • Build and refine operational processes across payout flows, settlement, reconciliation, exception handling, and support readiness.
  • Align internal stakeholders across Sales, Product, Engineering, Finance, and Compliance around a clear payments roadmap.
  • Define and track metrics tied to attach rate, payout volume, success rates, risk performance, and margin contribution. Use data to guide decisions and priorities.
  • Serve as the internal payments authority and external point of contact for bank and vendor relationships.
  • Manage and strengthen relationships with payout processors, sponsor banks, and other financial partners.
  • Evaluate and select new vendors where needed to support scale and economics.
