We are hiring a Risk Analyst for our client who provides a payments infrastructure and monetization platform designed to help software companies embed and profit from payment processing. The risk analyst will play a key role in monitoring transaction activity, managing merchant risk, and supporting compliance across the payments environment. This role is responsible for identifying and investigating anomalies, managing chargebacks, and working across teams to mitigate potential threats to the business. This is a strong fit for someone who is analytical and process oriented, and focused on reducing financial risk through data-backed decisions.
What You Will Do:
- Maintain and refine real-time monitoring tools to detect fraud flags, transaction spikes, and risk anomalies
- Adjust detection logic to improve alert accuracy and reduce false positives
- Analyze transactional data to surface risk patterns and trends within the merchant portfolio
- Respond to inbound merchant risk cases and internal escalations using a structured playbook
- Manage high-risk merchant reviews, resolving the majority of cases at first touch
- Evaluate merchant requests for volume and ticket size increases using a risk scoring framework
- Review and verify bank account changes to ensure proper documentation is submitted
- Monitor incoming chargebacks and optimize workflows to reduce response time
- Identify chargeback root causes and support the creation of prevention materials for merchants
- Track dispute outcomes and recommend improvements based on trend analysis
- Work with internal teams and merchants to improve PCI compliance rates through targeted outreach
- Support internal audits by maintaining documentation and identifying process gaps
- Monitor adherence to network rules and regulatory requirements using tracking tools
- Evaluate and mitigate risks associated with both Payins and Payouts, ensuring the security and integrity of all fund flows.
- Identify and investigate irregularities related to payout methods and volumes, specifically focusing on reducing potential losses from fraudulent disbursements.
What You Bring:
- 2-5 years of experience in risk, fraud, underwriting, or compliance in payments, fintech, or financial services
- Direct experience managing risk, fraud, or compliance in a payments environment that handles both Payins and Payouts (disbursements).
- Familiarity with PCI-DSS, AML/BSA, chargebacks, NACHA rules, and transaction monitoring
- Working knowledge of Excel, SQL, Looker, or similar tools to analyze and interpret data
- Clear communication skills and professionalism when handling sensitive information
- Ability to manage multiple risk cases with strong attention to detail and accountability
- A collaborative, feedback-driven mindset focused on continuous improvement
- Bonus: Experience with Alloy, Sardine, or similar platforms used in risk evaluations
