About the Company:
Our client specializes in providing products and services for both home and industrial projects, ranging from gypsum to flooring, paint, and other wall finishes. They have handled incredible projects in Malta, working with key clients such as Malta International Airport, gaming companies, Zara, Lidl, and other major players in the Maltese market. We are currently seeking a Financial Controller who will report directly to the Director and be responsible for the company's day-to-day financial operations.
Job Description:
As a Financial Controller, the right candidate will report to the Director while working closely with the Accounts Team to ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain strong financial controls, and drive process improvements. The ideal candidate should have previous experience in the role, be detail-oriented, possess strong leadership skills to guide the accounting team, and have solid knowledge of Maltese taxation and local financial operations.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and execute financial tasks and projects for the organization.
- Make estimates of funds required for the short- and long-term financial objectives of the organization.
- Complete financial reports, lead the month-end closing process, and conduct monthly financial forecasts.
- Prepare budgeting plans, forecasting, and reporting.
- Provide financial insight and analysis to drive business performance.
- Manage and monitor metrics and KPIs.
- Understand and calculate the financial performance of the organization and measure returns on investments.
- Liaise with external auditors and support them with the respective reports to ensure compliance with financial regulations.
- Process payments.
- Engage in any other tasks commensurate with the role.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a similar role as finance controller.
- Possession of an accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent).
- Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations (IFRS, GAAP, or local accounting standards).
- Proficiency in financial software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
- Prior experience in managing or supervising a small finance team is advantageous.
