About the job Engineer II, Utility
Summary
The Utility Engineer II will be responsible for overseeing the efficient operation and
maintenance of all utility systems within the battery manufacturing plant. This includes
managing critical systems such as electricity, compressed air, water, steam, and HVAC
(Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning). The role involves ensuring the reliability of utility
services that support production processes and handling maintenance activities.
Additionally, the engineer will improve utility efficiency, manage external contractors, and
ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of all utility systems, including
electrical, compressed air, water, steam, and HVAC systems, ensuring they operate
efficiently and without any interruptions
- Monitor utility consumption, identify energy-saving opportunities, and manage utility
budgets to reduce costs while maintaining optimal performance of facilities
- Lead troubleshooting and resolution of utility issues. Perform root cause analysis and
implement corrective actions to prevent future problems
- Provide technical information regarding production or processing techniques,
materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations that affect long-term plant
planning
- Select and coordinate with external contractors and vendors for utility-related services;
including maintenance, repairs and system upgrades
- Negotiate contracts and manage service agreements
- Ensure minimal production interruptions during emergencies by managing responses
to urgent situations
- Maintain accurate records of utility systems' performances, maintenance schedules,
work orders and compliance documentations
- Regularly report on utility performance to senior management
- Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards: Sort, Set in order,
Shine, Standardize, Sustain / Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
- Ensure work is completed in a safe manner and maintain a safe work environment
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of facilities experience in production/plant environment
- Bachelors or higher degree in engineering or related field required
- Must be able to properly and regularly utilize the following Personal Protective
Equipment (PPE) for a period of up to 12 hours: Safety glasses, Steel-toed shoes
- Must be able to perform the following over the course of up to 12 hours per day:
Lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds on occasion, Stoop, twist, bend, Reach overhead, Stand
for lengthy periods
