Job Overview:

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join their team in Melbourne, VIC. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our data infrastructure and systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the smooth integration and optimisation of data processes.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design and implement data pipelines to collect, process, and store large volumes of data

- Develop and maintain data warehouses and data lakes

- Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand data requirements and implement solutions

- Optimise data processes for performance, reliability, and scalability

- Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues in a timely manner

- Stay up-to-date with emerging data technologies and trends and make recommendations for their implementation

- Mentor and guide junior data engineers in best practices and coding standards

- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve code quality

- Document data processes, systems, and procedures for future reference

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

- 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role

- Strong experience with SQL and Python programming languages

- Hands-on experience with data warehousing, ETL processes, and data modeling

- Experience with cloud-based data platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure

- Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI

- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

- Strong communication and collaboration skills

- Ability to work independently and in a team environment

- Experience with Agile methodologies is a plus
