Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop plumbing systems (including domestic water, sanitary, stormwater, natural gas, and specialty piping systems).
  • Perform hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing, equipment selection, and layout design in accordance with local codes and standards (e.g.: IPC, ASPE, & NFPA).
  • Prepare construction documents (including drawings, specifications, and schedules).
  • Collaborate with Architects, Structural Engineers, and other disciplines to ensure seamless project coordination.
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and assessments to verify compliance with design intent & code requirements.
  • Assist in preparing technical reports, proposals, and engineering studies.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals for adherence to design specifications.
  • Participate in project meetings and communicate effectively with clients & stakeholders.
  • Provide mentorship to Junior Engineers and Designers.
  • Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.

Basic Requirement:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering (or a related technical discipline).
  • 3+ years of professional experience in Mechanical Engineering (preferably with plumbing system design projects).
  • FE / EIT credential.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PE license is preferred.
  • Experience working with a variety of projects (preferably with commercial, institutional, and industrial projects).
  • Advanced proficiency with engineering tools (e.g.: CADD, BIM, etc.); expertise with Autodesk Revit is strongly preferred.
  • Expertise with relevant codes & standards (including IPC, UPC, NFPA 13, NFPA 14, NFPA 99, and ASHRAE).
  • Advanced knowledge of plumbing system design principles, hydraulic calculations, and piping layout best practices.
  • Proven ability to conduct site surveys and field inspections in an effective manner.
  • Experience with fire protection engineering is a plus!
  • Membership in relevant professional organizations (such as ASPE [American Society of Plumbing Engineers]) is a plus!
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; this person is expected to be detail-oriented!
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment (with internal & external clients) while demonstrating dependability and a positive attitude!
  • Proven ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational skills, especially with a proven ability to work in an energetic and challenging work environment on a variety of projects; this person will be expected to demonstrate a self-motivated manner while effectively multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple assignments.
