Role Overview

An advanced manufacturing and robotics company in Chatsworth, CA is seeking a Senior Industrial Automation Engineer to support the development, integration, and deployment of next-generation automation systems used in modern manufacturing environments.

This role combines industrial controls engineering, robotics integration, automation software development, and production system deployment. The ideal candidate has deep experience with PLC programming, industrial automation platforms, robotics systems, and troubleshooting complex automation environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop PLC-based industrial automation control systems
  • Implement and maintain automation software supporting production operations
  • Integrate robotics, sensors, motion systems, and manufacturing equipment
  • Support development of embedded and real-time software components
  • Contribute to automation system architecture, networking, and monitoring
  • Develop motion control logic and automation workflows
  • Troubleshoot automation system issues in development and production environments
  • Collaborate with software, controls, and manufacturing engineering teams
  • Support deployment and scaling of automation systems into production
  • Improve system reliability, scalability, and operational performance

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial automation, controls engineering, or robotics systems
  • Experience with PLC programming
  • Structured Text programming experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Beckhoff or similar industrial automation platforms
  • Programming experience in:

    • C
    • C++
    • Python
    • Or similar languages
  • Understanding of robotics systems and automated manufacturing equipment
  • Ability to work across both hardware and software environments
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with robotic manufacturing or advanced automation systems
  • Familiarity with motion control systems and servo-driven equipment
  • Experience integrating:

    • Sensors
    • Vision systems
    • Inspection technologies
  • Exposure to geometric processing, toolpath generation, or advanced automation logic
  • Experience supporting systems from prototype through production deployment
  • Background in high-speed or production-critical manufacturing environments preferred

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $140,000-$165,000 annually
