Role Overview

A dedicated CAT shuttle operation in Lafayette, IN is hiring experienced CDL-A drivers for local shuttle and flatbed freight operations. Drivers will haul a combination of van freight and step deck loads, primarily moving skids and crates between CAT facilities and nearby locations.

This position offers daily home time, overtime opportunities, strong hourly pay, and a substantial sign-on bonus package. Ideal for experienced flatbed drivers seeking stable local work with modern equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate CDL-A trucks on local shuttle routes
• Haul van freight and step deck freight
• Transport skids, crates, and industrial freight
• Secure freight using chains and binders
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections
• Maintain DOT compliance and safety standards
• Communicate professionally with dispatch and operations teams
• Assist with occasional weekend operations when needed

Requirements

• Valid CDL-A license required
• Minimum 1 year recent verifiable flatbed experience
• Chain and binder securement training preferred
• Must be available for weekend work as needed
• Ability to safely handle industrial freight and securement procedures

Compensation & Benefits

• 1st shift pay: $25/hour
• 2nd shift pay: $27/hour
• 3rd shift pay: $28/hour
• Overtime paid after 40 hours
• New hire transition bonus: $500
  • Paid in full on second paycheck
• Sign-on bonus: $3,000 total
  • $1,000 on second paycheck
  • $1,000 after 60 days
  • $1,000 after 120 days

Schedule & Home Time

• Monday-Friday schedule
• Standard shift:
  • 7:00 AM-5:00 PM
• Weekend work available based on plant demand
• Schedule updates provided weekly
• Home daily
• Hours may vary based on freight and production needs

Freight & Route Information

• Local shuttle operations in Lafayette, IN
• Occasional runs to surrounding locations
• Combination of:
  • Dry van freight
  • Step deck freight
• Primarily hauling industrial skids and crates
• No-touch van freight included on some routes

• 2016-2023 Kenworth trucks
• 53-foot dry vans
