Drivers will haul intermodal containers between Detroit and Chicago rail ramps with preplanned loads and efficient routing.

Route & Freight Details

  • Regional runs across:
    • MI, IL, IN
  • Primary lanes:
    • Detroit market Chicago rail yards
  • Average:
    • ~2,200 miles per week
  • Freight includes:
    • Intermodal containers on chassis
  • 100% no-touch freight
  • Mix of:
    • ~70% drop & hook
    • ~30% live load/unload
  • Preplanned loads for consistent routing

Schedule & Days Off Options

  • Home weekly (34–48 hour reset)
  • Drivers choose 2 consecutive days off from:
    • Tuesday – Wednesday
    • Wednesday – Thursday
    • Thursday – Friday
    • Friday – Saturday
    • Sunday – Monday

Weekend days off may be available with approval
Consistent schedule once selected

Pay & Compensation

  • Avg Weekly Pay: $1,650–$1,850
  • Avg Annual Pay: $86,000 – $95,000

Mileage Pay:

  • $0.64 – $0.69 CPM

Additional Pay:

  • $65 live stop pay (avg ~3/week)
  • $35 drop & hook pay (avg ~5/week)
  • $25 hazmat load pay

Equipment & Work Setup

  • Mid-roof sleeper tractors (mostly automatic Freightliners)
  • Modern equipment with safety technology
  • Average fleet age: ~1.8 years
  • Drivers may take trucks home for time off

Training

  • Approx. 2-week training program
  • $250/day training pay
  • Assigned truck after training completion

Work Environment

  • No-touch freight = minimal physical labor
  • Consistent intermodal freight lanes
  • Mix of day and night driving depending on schedule

Requirements

  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Minimum 3 months of tractor-trailer experience required
  • Must be able to:
    • Work flexible schedules
