The Opportunity

A growing mining company with a strong commitment to discovery is seeking an experienced Exploration Manager to lead both greenfield and brownfield exploration programs across highly prospective gold terrains.

This role offers the opportunity to shape exploration strategy across a portfolio of projects targeting world class gold deposits within proven mineral belts. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing exploration concepts, refining geological models and leading multidisciplinary teams in the pursuit of significant new discoveries.

Reporting into senior leadership, the Exploration Manager will oversee the full exploration lifecycle, from target generation and early stage exploration through to resource definition and project advancement. The position requires a strong blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking and leadership capability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute exploration strategies across greenfield and brownfield gold projects.
  • Identify, prioritise and evaluate prospective targets within Archean, Birimian, Orogenic, Intrusion Related and other highly prospective gold systems.
  • Lead geological mapping, drilling, geochemical sampling and geophysical programs.
  • Oversee the generation, testing and refinement of exploration targets through integrated geological interpretation.
  • Manage multidisciplinary teams of geologists, geophysicists and technical specialists.
  • Integrate geological, geochemical, geophysical and structural datasets to maximise discovery success.
  • Drive the advancement of exploration targets from early stage concepts through to resource definition.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Manage exploration budgets, contractor performance and program execution.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, innovation and technical excellence across all exploration activities.
  • Support corporate growth initiatives through the identification and advancement of new exploration opportunities.

  • During the first 12 months, the successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Strengthen integration between geology, geophysics, geochemistry and drilling functions.

  • Maintain strong safety performance while achieving exploration objectives within budget.
  • Contribute to the long term discovery pipeline and growth strategy of the business.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology or a related discipline.
  • Postgraduate qualifications would be advantageous.
  • Minimum 10 years of mineral exploration experience.
  • Proven success within greenfield and brownfield gold exploration programs.
  • Strong experience within Archean, Birimian, Orogenic, Intrusion Related or similar gold mineral systems.
  • Excellent understanding of structural geology, geochemistry and geophysics.
  • Demonstrated success managing drilling programs and target generation activities.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary exploration teams.
  • Strong budgeting, project management and stakeholder engagement capability.
  • Excellent communication and technical reporting skills.
  • A track record of advancing projects from target generation through to resource definition would be highly regarded.
