Manager - Technical Services

 Job Description:

Lead the integration and coordination of mine engineering, geotechnical, survey, projects and planning across underground and open pit operations. The role will ensure practical plans support safe ore recovery, production delivery and a strong partnership between technical services and operations.

A major international gold producer operating a large scale open pit and underground mine in a remote developing nation. The operation is rebuilding capability and requires strong technical leadership, workforce development and alignment across operational disciplines.


Accountabilities

  • Lead the design, implementation and management of mine planning systems for safe and efficient ore recovery.
  • Manage planning, design, scheduling and optimisation across underground and open pit operations.
  • Develop and deliver long term mine plans aligned with production targets and business objectives.
  • Ensure plans remain practical, achievable and responsive to changing operating conditions.
  • Provide technical support for monthly forecasting, annual budgets and longer term planning.
  • Analyse performance, planning assumptions and constraints to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and optimise technical processes, systems and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, industry standards and technical governance.
  • Build strong working relationships across technical services and operations.
  • Manage the departmental budget, objectives, resources and team performance.
  • Establish clear responsibilities and performance expectations.
  • Coach and develop technical professionals and support succession planning.
  • Assess technical and operational risks and maintain visible safety leadership.


Qualifications

  • Degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Extensive hard rock mining experience, ideally within gold.
  • Strong combined underground and open pit experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership of a technical services or mine planning team.
  • Substantial long term planning experience supported by practical underground operational exposure.
  • Advanced proficiency with Deswik applications and strong design, scheduling and optimisation capability.
  • Experience aligning mine plans with production targets and financial objectives.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory requirements, mining standards and technical governance.
  • Experience managing budgets, team performance and technical project delivery.
  • Experience in a developing nation or comparably complex environment is highly desirable.
