The Corporate Lead - Grassroots Exploration will lead the strategic planning, execution, and management of grassroots exploration programs for a growing mining company. Focused on gold and copper, this role involves developing and implementing exploration strategies, identifying high-potential targets, and advancing early-stage discoveries toward resource definition. The role reports to senior leadership and plays a key part in shaping the companys long-term growth pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:

Develop and implement a comprehensive grassroots exploration strategy aligned with corporate growth objectives.

Identify and prioritize prospective areas for gold and copper discovery using innovative geological concepts and data-driven analysis.
Project Management:

Oversee multiple exploration programs across diverse terrains, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations.

Ensure timely and accurate reporting of exploration results to senior management, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.
Technical Excellence:

Lead geologists, geophysicists, and technical staff in applying cutting-edge exploration techniques and technologies.

Evaluate geological, geochemical, and geophysical data to refine targeting models and increase discovery success rates.
Stakeholder & Team Engagement:

Collaborate with local communities, government agencies, and stakeholders to ensure ethical, responsible, and sustainable exploration practices.

Represent the company at industry forums, government briefings, and stakeholder meetings to enhance partnerships and reputation.

Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing exploration team, fostering knowledge sharing and capacity building.

Promote a culture of safety, innovation, and accountability within the exploration team.
Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelors degree in Geology, Geophysics, or related field; Masters or Ph.D. in Economic Geology or Mineral Exploration highly desirable.

Minimum 15 years of exploration experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

Demonstrated success in grassroots exploration, particularly in gold and copper deposits.

Experience in Africa or comparable challenging environments strongly preferred.

Expertise in structural geology, geochemistry, and geophysics applied to exploration.

Strong leadership, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
