Technical Services Manager - Underground

We are seeking an experienced Underground Technical Services Manager for a FIFO role in Africa, focused on precious metals. The role will lead and optimise underground technical services, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations while supporting mine planning, geology, and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead technical services for underground mining, integrating mine planning, geology, and engineering functions.

• Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers, geologists, and technicians to support daily operations.

• Develop and oversee short- and long-term mine plans, ensuring alignment with production and cost objectives.

• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and safety teams to address operational challenges and improve processes.

• Lead design reviews, mine development plans, and equipment performance assessments to optimise operational efficiency.

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and foster a culture of safety, innovation, and accountability.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Mining Engineering or related field; advanced degree advantageous.

• Extensive underground mining experience, ideally in precious metals.

• Proven experience leading technical teams in remote or FIFO environments.

• Strong understanding of mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, MineSight) and geological data integration.

• In-depth knowledge of underground mining methods, equipment, and safety standards.

• Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to work effectively in multicultural and remote environments.
