Senior Resource Geologist, Studies

 Job Description:

Provide the geological foundation for studies evaluating a significant gold discovery located near an established mining operation. The role will focus on building confidence in the orebody, integrating drilling results and ensuring geological information is suitable for project evaluation and development planning.

Working within a multidisciplinary studies team, the successful person will connect resource geology with mining, metallurgy, geotechnical engineering and project economics as the opportunity progresses through successive study stages.

Company

A major international gold producer advancing a portfolio of operating assets and organic growth projects. This opportunity sits within a large African mining operation with established infrastructure and an active programme of resource expansion.

Accountabilities

  • Develop, maintain and refine three dimensional geological and mineralisation models.
  • Integrate drilling, logging, sampling, structural and assay information into the evolving geological interpretation.
  • Support Mineral Resource estimation, classification and technical documentation.
  • Identify geological uncertainty and recommend work required to improve confidence in the resource.
  • Review drilling plans and ensure programmes address the priorities of the study.
  • Evaluate geological continuity, mineralisation controls and potential extensions to the orebody.
  • Provide resource geology input into conceptual, prefeasibility and feasibility studies.
  • Work with mining engineers to assess development scenarios and mining assumptions.
  • Support geotechnical, metallurgical and infrastructure workstreams with reliable geological information.
  • Contribute to trade off studies and technical evaluations affecting project value.
  • Ensure geological models and study assumptions remain aligned as new drilling information becomes available.
  • Coordinate consultants and specialist advisers completing resource related work.
  • Maintain appropriate controls across geological data, sampling, assay quality and model governance.
  • Prepare technical reports and communicate geological risks clearly to project leadership.
  • Contribute to investment evaluations by explaining resource confidence, opportunity and uncertainty.

Qualifications

  • Degree in geology, earth sciences or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience in mine, project or resource geology.
  • Practical geological modelling and Mineral Resource estimation capability.
  • Experience supporting mining studies or development projects.
  • Understanding of the information required during conceptual, prefeasibility and feasibility work.
  • Exposure to active drilling programmes and expanding gold resources.
  • Ability to work effectively with mining, metallurgy, geotechnical and project disciplines.
  • Strong understanding of geological data quality, sampling and assay controls.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to connect geological work with project value.
  • Comfortable working in a fast moving site environment with significant individual accountability.
  • International or African mining experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
