Job Summary: The OP Coding Trainer is responsible for developing, implementing, and delivering training programs for outpatient (OP) medical coders. The trainer will ensure coders are well-versed in current coding guidelines, compliance requirements, and organizational standards. This role plays a key part in maintaining high-quality coding accuracy and efficiency across the team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver training sessions for new and existing outpatient coders.
  • Develop training materials, coding assessments, and reference guides based on the latest coding updates (CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS).
  • Evaluate coder performance through audits, assessments, and feedback to identify training needs.
  • Stay current with industry changes in coding guidelines, payer regulations, and compliance updates.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Compliance teams to ensure coding practices meet regulatory standards.
  • Conduct refresher courses and upskilling workshops as necessary.
  • Support onboarding and orientation of new hires.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching for coders requiring additional support.
  • Monitor and report on training effectiveness and coder performance improvements.

Job Requirement:

  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in outpatient coding.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a training or mentorship role preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and outpatient billing procedures.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and auditing capabilities.
  • Can start ASAP.
