Job Overview:
The Junior Accountant is responsible for managing general accounting operations by ensuring financial transactions are accurate and properly recorded. The role includes reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining the general ledger, and preparing month-end close procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of accounting principles and tax regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Oversee journal entries and necessary adjustments to ensure accuracy.
  • Supervise accounts payable and receivable processes.
  • Ensure timely processing of invoices and payments.
  • Assist in budget preparation and financial forecasting.
  • Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts.
  • Develop and implement effective internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Conduct periodic reviews to ensure compliance with established controls and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations and financial legislation.
  • Coordinate and assist with internal and external audits.
  • Prepare and file tax returns in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with external tax advisors on complex tax matters.
  • Conduct variance analysis to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and documentation.
  • Ensure audit requirements are met in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Prepare financial reports to be submitted to headquarters.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accountancy.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Strong understanding of local tax regulations.
  • Knowledge of the Xero accounting system is an advantage.
  • Must be willing to work in Makati City.
