About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Node.js Developer with a strong foundation in JavaScript, Node.js (or equivalent frameworks), and MongoDB, and with proven experience in API development, system integrations, and data migration using ETL tools.

This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys solving complex integration challenges, and is eager to make an impact in digital health.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain full stack applications using Node.js and MongoDB.
• Lead or support data migration and integration projects between healthcare systems using both custom and commercial ETL tools.
• Build and maintain scalable, secure, and well-documented RESTful APIs for interoperability across digital health platforms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including architects, analysts, QA, and DevOps to ensure smooth end-to-end delivery.
• Analyze technical requirements and propose effective solutions for integration, API development, and data movement.
• Provide technical mentorship and conduct code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices.
• Maintain detailed documentation for API specs, data mappings, workflows, and migration plans.
• Contribute to continuous process and tool improvements to increase team productivity.

Required Skills and Experience

• 6+ years of experience in full stack development with a focus on:
• JavaScript, Node.js
• MongoDB including schema design, data modeling, and migrations
• Solid experience in API design, development, and integration.
• Hands-on experience with data migration and ETL workflows, including tools like Talend, Apache Nifi, or custom pipelines.
• Strong understanding of system integration patterns, message transformation, and error handling.
• Familiarity with Agile development practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.
• Ability to lead by example and support junior developers through collaboration and mentorship.
• Nice to Have
• Hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails.
• Experience with healthcare integration standards such as FHIR, HL7, or eHealth Ontario specs.
• Understanding of secure API design and healthcare compliance frameworks (e.g., PHIPA, HIPAA).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and microservice architecture.
