I. Job description / Profile
The focus is on the highly specialised manufacture and assembly of large generators. Electrical machinery technicians in generator construction are directly responsible for the core components of global energy plants and work in compliance with the strictest quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities & Manufacturing Focus Precision assembly and electrical installation of large components in accordance with technical drawings and parts lists. Generator construction & assembly: Professional assembly of turbo and hydroelectric generators and their key assemblies. This includes the precise assembly of stators, rotors, bearing units and solid housing components. Winding technology (specialist area): Carrying out winding work on large electrical machines. This involves the professional assembly, soldering and insulation of windings using standard winding methods. Joining technology (copper): Durable and highly conductive joining of copper winding elements. High-quality brazing processes are used here, which guarantee that the joints can withstand extreme loads.
Electrical installation & sensor technology: Installation and professional wiring of switch boxes and terminal boxes directly on the generator. This also involves the precise installation of temperature sensors and other electrical monitoring components. Documentation & Drawing Interpretation: Accurate reading, interpretation and implementation of complex manufacturing drawings, circuit diagrams and technical parts lists as the basis for error-free assembly.
Plant & Crane Operation: Handling the tools and machinery used in generator construction, as well as the safe operation of overhead cranes (crane licence required in Austria).
Repair: Carrying out the dismantling and reassembly of electromechanical machines as part of production and quality assurance. The position requires a completed electrical engineering qualification (e.g. electrical machinery engineering, electrical engineering) as well as a high level of manual dexterity for working on large industrial machinery.
II. Professional requirements
To ensure legal compliance when applying via the Red-White-Red Card (Austria's skilled worker scheme for shortage occupations), the following criteria must be strictly met. The procedure is based on a points system. Integrated technical language training: Specific training in electrical engineering terminology is part of the onboarding process. This covers all safety-related terms (e.g. safety regulations in generator construction), technical process steps during winding/soldering, and the correct terminology for specialised tools and machinery.
