Title: Powertrain Simulation Engineer – Range & Efficiency
Experience: 3+ years
Location: Novi, MI.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and track vehicle range and efficiency targets for electric and hybrid powertrains.
- Perform simulations to optimize aerodynamics, rolling resistance, and powertrain efficiency (MATLAB/Simulink, etc.).
- Collaborate with aero, thermal, and powertrain teams to integrate efficiency-oriented technologies.
- Identify energy loss sources and propose design changes to improve range.
- Correlate simulations with real‑world test data and refine models accordingly.
- Document findings and provide actionable insights to support product decisions.
- Develop and improve methods for energy efficiency optimization (materials, aero, power management).
- Conduct vehicle range testing across climates, terrain, and load conditions.
- Build simulation models and scripts.
- Develop engineering tools to support Energy Systems analysis.
Qualification:
- Bachelors in electrical mechanical automotive or equivalent engineering degree
- Minimum 3 yrs. Experience in evaluating electric and hybrid vehicle powertrain efficiency and range evaluation
- Minimum 3 yrs. Experience in using model based simulation tools - MATLAB , Simulink and Stateflow etc.
