HSE DESIGN ENGINEER
About the job HSE DESIGN ENGINEER
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented HSE Design Engineer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical safety design, loss prevention, and fire protection systems, with proven experience in FEED and detailed design phases for major industrial projects such as oil & gas, petrochemical, or energy facilities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare Fire & Safety engineering deliverables including: Fire Protection System Layouts, Fire & Gas Detector Layouts, Fire Equipment & Safety Sign Layouts, Escape Evacuation Route Drawings, Hazardous Area Classification & Zoning (H2S, Fire Zones), Firewater Network & Passive Fire Protection Layouts, Radiation Contour Layouts and Fire & Life Safety (Fire Strategy) Plans
- Develop detailed design drawings and schematics for Fire Water Systems and Foam Systems, Clean Agent and Inergen Fire Suppression Systems
- Prepare and review P&IDs, PFDs, UFDs, MSDs, and BFDs using AutoCAD and MicroStation V8i (SELECT series 4).
- Interpret and implement Fire & Gas Mapping reports to develop accurate F&G detector layouts.
- Perform soft and hard checks of engineering drawings to ensure compliance with project drafting standards and quality requirements.
- Maintain thorough records of revisions, markups, and drafting changes, coordinating closely with engineers for clarifications and updates.
- Work in close collaboration with Project Managers, discipline leads, and design teams to: Understand and interpret project requirements, Meet delivery schedules and budget constraints, Ensure seamless integration of HSE design within overall project scope
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including Piping, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Instrumentation, and Process Engineers to deliver safe and compliant designs.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors Degree in Safety Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 10 years of HSE Design Engineering experience in oil & gas projects
- Strong experience in FEED and Detailed Design phases
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and MicroStation V8i
- In-depth knowledge of: Fire Protection and Detection Systems, Safety Standards (NFPA, OSHA, ADNOC CoPs, UAE Fire & Life Safety Code), Hazardous Area Classification, Fire & Gas Mapping Methodologies
- Familiarity with ADNOC project workflows and documentation standards is a strong advantage
- Excellent coordination, communication, and team collaboration skills.
