We are looking for an experienced Instrumentation Designer to support instrumentation and control systems design activities for onshore/offshore oil & gas projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and developing detailed design drawings and deliverables, ensuring accuracy, compliance with industry standards, and integration with other engineering disciplines.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and update instrumentation design drawings including:
- Instrument Location Layouts
- Cable Routing Layouts
- Junction Box Layouts
- Instrument Hook-Up Drawings
- Loop Diagrams
- Wiring Diagrams
- Installation Details
- Generate and maintain instrument index, I/O lists, and cable schedules in coordination with the engineering team.
- Interpret and implement data from P&IDs, loop drawings, and vendor documents into design deliverables.
- Coordinate with Process, Piping, Electrical, and Civil disciplines to ensure proper instrument placement and interface.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, client standards (e.g., ADNOC, Aramco), and international codes (IEC, ISA, NEC, etc.).
- Assist in preparing Material Take-Offs (MTOs) and Bill of Materials (BOMs) for procurement and construction support.
- Support engineering team in 3D model reviews and ensure instrumentation elements are correctly represented.
- Review and incorporate vendor data and drawings into the overall design.
- Conduct on-site surveys or visits when required to validate design conditions or support construction.
- Provide support for as-built documentation and redline drawings.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma or ITI in Instrumentation, Electronics, or related technical field.
- 8+ years of experience in instrumentation design in the oil & gas, chemical, or energy industries.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI/INtools), MicroStation, or AVEVA Instrumentation.
- Good understanding of instrumentation devices such as transmitters, control valves, analyzers, switches, etc.
- Experience working with international standards (IEC, ISA, API) and client-specific requirements.
- Knowledge of Hazardous Area Classification and installation practices.
- Experience in preparing design deliverables for FEED and Detailed Design stages.
- Familiarity with ADNOC, Aramco, or other major oil & gas client specifications is an added advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or in a team environment.
