D&R - KSA is seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineer who will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful production of mechanical shop drawings for various components of the project, including buildings, landscape elements, infrastructure, and underground utilities.

This engineer will be at the forefront of utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies to develop and coordinate the mechanical aspects of the project, in addition to performing calculations, design gap analysis, and design development.

Key Requirements:

  • Educational Background: The candidate must hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A professional engineering license is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role, specifically in producing mechanical shop drawings using BIM methodologies.
  • Team Leadership: Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a team of professionals, including engineers, BIM coordinators, BIM modelers, and draftsmen.
  • Design Skills: Strong design skills with the ability to perform design gap analysis and contribute to the design development process.
  • Calculations: Proficiency in mechanical calculations, especially as they relate to HVAC systems, plumbing, and infrastructure.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively report to the Project Manager and Project Technical Manager.
  • Quality Assurance: A keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work that adheres to project standards and industry best practices.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with local and international building codes and regulations, particularly those relevant to mechanical systems in Saudi Arabia.
  • BIM Knowledge: good knowledge in BIM software such as Revit, Civil 3D, BIM 360, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and other relevant tools is essential.

Key Resposibilities:

  • As the Mechanical Engineer (Shop Drawings Lead), you will be responsible for the following:
  • Mechanical Shop Drawings: Oversee the production of mechanical shop drawings for all project components, ensuring accuracy and compliance with design specifications.
  • Team Leadership: Lead a team of engineers, BIM coordinators, BIM modelers, and draftsmen, providing guidance, mentorship, and ensuring the team's productivity and performance.
  • Design Analysis: Perform design gap analysis, identifying discrepancies and proposing solutions to align the design with project requirements.
  • Design Development: Contribute to the design development process by providing valuable insights and recommendations related to mechanical systems.
  • Calculations: Conduct mechanical calculations to validate design decisions and ensure system performance and efficiency.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all mechanical designs and shop drawings comply with local and international building codes and regulations.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines, architects, and project stakeholders to coordinate mechanical systems within the overall project.
  • Reporting: Provide regular progress reports to the Project Manager and Project Technical Manager, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
  • BIM Workflow: being able to work within a well defined BIM workflow for mechanical engineering, utilizing software such as Revit, Civil 3D, BIM 360, and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
