PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Pre-Contract Quantity Surveyor to join our team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing and delivering cost-effective pre-contract services, ensuring that projects are accurately costed, tendered, and prepared for execution. You will collaborate closely with the project teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure that all pre-contract activities are executed to the highest standards.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects, including materials, labor, and other associated costs.
  • Develop and maintain cost plans to ensure that budgets are adhered to throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Evaluate cost-effectiveness of designs and construction methods during the pre-contract phase.
  • Manage the tendering process, including preparation of tender documents, evaluation of bids, and negotiation with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Review and analyze contractor and supplier bids to ensure they align with project requirements and budget constraints.
  • Prepare and submit detailed tender reports and recommendations to the management team.
  • Draft and review contract documents, ensuring that all terms and conditions are clear and in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with contracts and subcontracts.
  • Prepare regular reports on cost estimates, tender outcomes, and contract status for senior management.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all pre-contract activities, including correspondence, contracts, and financial documents.
  • Ensure that all documentation is compliant with company policies and industry standards.
  • Conduct market research to stay informed of industry trends, pricing, and emerging technologies.
  • Benchmark project costs against industry standards to ensure competitiveness and value for money.
    

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field. Not consultancy background.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in pre-contract quantity surveying, preferably within the construction, oil & gas, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement processes, and cost management.
  • Proficiency in relevant software such as Planswift, Revit, CostX, WinQS, or similar.
