We are seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation Engineer (Offshore) to join our engineering team in Abu Dhabi, supporting the design and execution of a major offshore oil and gas project in the Middle East. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the detailed engineering and design development of offshore instrumentation systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards, project specifications, and client requirements.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and execute detailed engineering for offshore instrumentation systems including control systems, field instrumentation, and communication networks.
  • Prepare and review instrument datasheets, specifications, loop diagrams, cable schedules, I/O lists, and installation drawings.
  • Conduct technical evaluations and provide recommendations for vendor equipment and instrumentation packages.
  • Interface with multidisciplinary teams (Process, Electrical, Mechanical, and Piping) to ensure integrated design solutions.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOP, SIL, and constructability assessments.
  • Support procurement activities by preparing Material Requisitions (MR), Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE), and vendor document reviews.
  • Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and start-up phases.
  • Ensure all instrumentation design work complies with international codes (e.g., IEC, ISA, API), client specifications, and local regulations.
  • Work closely with offshore site teams and provide engineering support for field modifications and redlining.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in instrumentation engineering within the oil & gas industry, with at least 5 years in offshore projects.
  • Proven experience in detailed engineering design for offshore platforms or FPSOs.
  • Proficiency with design tools such as SPI (SmartPlant Instrumentation), InTools, and AutoCAD.
  • Strong knowledge of hazardous area classification, intrinsically safe systems, and offshore standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
  • Chartered Engineer status or membership with a recognized engineering institution.
  • Familiarity with Middle Eastern offshore regulations and ADNOC standards.
  • Experience with brownfield modifications and revamp projects.
