We are seeking a skilled and motivated Solar Design Engineer to join our Renewable Energy team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and optimizing solar PV systems (rooftop, ground-mounted, and utility-scale), preparing detailed technical documentation, and supporting project execution from conceptual design through commissioning. The role demands strong technical knowledge, CAD expertise, and a passion for clean energy solutions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct site assessments using tools such as Helioscope, PVsyst, or AutoCAD to evaluate solar potential and constraints.
  • Design grid-tied and off-grid solar PV systems, including string sizing, inverter selection, layout planning, and BOS (Balance of System) components.
  • Prepare and review electrical single-line diagrams (SLDs), layouts, structural drawings, and interconnection schematics.
  • Perform system performance simulations and energy yield analyses.
  • Collaborate with sales, procurement, and construction teams to develop accurate and cost-effective solar designs.
  • Ensure compliance with local codes, utility requirements, and international standards (NEC, IEC, IEEE, etc.).
  • Support permitting, technical documentation, and project proposals.
  • Coordinate with third-party engineering firms and consultants for peer reviews and certifications when required.
  • Stay updated on new solar technologies, trends, and tools to ensure innovative and efficient designs.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related field.
  • Masters degree or solar-specific certifications (e.g., NABCEP, PVSyst Certified) is a plus.
  • 2-5+ years of experience in solar PV system design (residential, commercial, or utility-scale).
  • Hands-on experience with design software: AutoCAD, Helioscope, PVsyst, SketchUp, ETAP (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of photovoltaic system components and design principles.
  • Proficient in electrical design and system sizing.
  • Knowledge of grid-tied and off-grid energy systems.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Experience in renewable project development lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with permitting processes and interconnection applications.
  • Project management or construction oversight experience is a plus.
