We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Offshore Electrical Engineer to join our engineering team in Abu Dhabi, responsible for supporting the detailed design and execution of a large-scale offshore oil and gas project in the Middle East. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of offshore electrical systems and strong experience in detailed engineering, design coordination, and technical assurance.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and review electrical system designs including single line diagrams, load lists, cable sizing and routing, lighting and earthing systems, power distribution, and motor control schemes.
  • Prepare and evaluate technical specifications, material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and vendor document reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with international codes (e.g., IEC, IEEE, NEC), client requirements, ADNOC standards, and local regulatory frameworks.
  • Conduct power system studies including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and motor starting using ETAP or similar software.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (Instrumentation, Mechanical, Process, Piping) for integrated design development.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, model reviews, and technical workshops.
  • Interface with offshore construction and commissioning teams to provide engineering support and resolve field issues.
  • Ensure electrical systems are suitable for hazardous areas, including proper specification of Ex-rated equipment.
  • Support pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, ensuring safe energization and system handover.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years of electrical engineering experience in the oil & gas industry, with at least 5 years in offshore projects.
  • Strong background in detailed design and engineering of offshore electrical systems including HV/LV power distribution, generators, switchgear, and UPS systems.
  • Proficient with design and analysis tools such as ETAP, Dialux, AutoCAD, and SmartPlant Electrical.
  • Thorough understanding of hazardous area classification, ATEX, and IECEx requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multicultural team environment.
  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional certification.
  • Previous experience on ADNOC projects or within the Middle East offshore sector.
  • Familiarity with brownfield electrical modifications and offshore upgrades.
