We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation Designer to support the design and development of instrumentation and control system layouts, drawings, and design documentation for large-scale industrial and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality instrumentation design deliverables, coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams, ensuring compliance with project standards, and supporting project execution throughout FEED and Detailed Design phases.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop instrumentation design and drafting deliverables for industrial and infrastructure projects.
- Prepare and update instrumentation design documents including Instrument Location Plans, Instrument Installation Details and Hook-up Drawings, Instrument Loop Diagrams, Cable Routing Layouts, Cable Tray Layouts, Cable Block Diagrams and Interconnection Diagrams, Junction Box and Marshalling Cabinet Layouts, Control Panel and Cabinet Layout Drawings
- Coordinate with Instrumentation Engineers and other engineering disciplines to ensure accurate and integrated design development.
- Incorporate vendor information, project specifications, and engineering requirements into design deliverables.
- Ensure instrumentation drawings and layouts comply with project standards, client requirements, and applicable international codes.
- Review and check design drawings for completeness, accuracy, and constructability.
- Participate in design reviews and interdisciplinary coordination meetings.
- Support 3D model development and design reviews where applicable.
- Assist in resolving design-related issues during engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Maintain drawing registers and ensure document control procedures are followed.
- Support site surveys, field verification activities, and as-built documentation updates when required.
- Ensure assigned deliverables are completed within project schedules and quality requirements.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Drafting Technology, or equivalent technical discipline.
- Minimum 5+ years of instrumentation design experience in industrial, infrastructure, energy, oil & gas, petrochemical, water, or power projects.
- Experience in FEED and Detailed Design (DD) project environments.
- Strong knowledge of instrumentation design principles, installation requirements, and drafting standards.
- Experience in preparing instrument hook-ups, loop diagrams, cable routing drawings, junction box layouts, and installation details.
- Familiarity with instrumentation systems including DCS, PLC, SCADA, SIS/ESD, and Fire & Gas systems.
- Knowledge of field instrumentation, control valves, analyzers, and associated instrumentation equipment.
- Understanding of hazardous area requirements and instrumentation installation practices.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and other engineering design software.
- Experience with SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI), AVEVA Engineering, E3D, PDMS, or similar design platforms is an advantage.
- Experience in brownfield and greenfield project environments (Preferred).
- Exposure to EPC contractor and PMC project execution environments (Preferred).
- Familiarity with construction support activities, field verification, and as-built documentation preparation.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
