TELECOM ENGINEER
About the job TELECOM ENGINEER
We are looking for a Telecom Field Engineer with strong offshore experience to support installation, testing, and commissioning of telecom systems on offshore platforms, jackets, and jack-up rigs. The role requires hands-on expertise in industrial telecom systems within oil & gas environments.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Execute installation, testing, and commissioning of telecom systems offshore
- Perform cable laying, termination, and testing for: Fiber Optic Cables, Copper / Structured Cabling Systems
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot: PAGA (Public Address & General Alarm) Systems, CCTV & Security Systems, Access Control Systems, Radio Communication Systems (VHF/UHF/TETRA)
- Conduct loop checks, functional testing, and system integration with ICSS/DCS
- Support pre-commissioning and commissioning activities offshore
- Coordinate with onshore engineering teams and vendors for issue resolution
- Attend and support FAT / SAT (Site Acceptance Test) activities
- Ensure all work complies with offshore safety standards and permit-to-work systems
- Prepare daily reports, punch list clearance, and handover documentation
- Hands-on offshore experience on: Platforms, Jackets, Jack-up rigs
- Strong experience in telecom system installation & commissioning
- Familiarity with hazardous area requirements (ATEX/IECEx)
- Experience working in live offshore environments (brownfield preferred)
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Telecom / Electronics / Electrical Engineering
- Offshore certifications (BOSIET / HUET) preferred
- Fiber optic testing tools (OTDR, splicing, certification tools) (Preferred)
- Basic knowledge of networking (IP systems, switches, routers) (Preferred)
- Ability to read telecom drawings, layouts, and cable schedules (Preferred)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills (Preferred)
