The S3D (Smart 3D) Administrator is responsible for managing, configuring, and supporting Smart 3D across engineering projects, ensuring smooth project execution, compliance with standards, and alignment with the defined Scope of Work (SOW). This role involves setup, administration, and troubleshooting of the S3D environment, as well as providing support to engineering disciplines in the delivery of high-quality design deliverables.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The S3D Administrator performs a wide range of tasks, including but not limited to:
- Initialize and configure S3D project databases.
- Setup project structures, including PlantAreaUnit (PAU) hierarchy.
- Define and implement tag, naming, and loop conventions in line with project standards.
- Create, configure, and manage domains, projects, and user groups.
- Assign and manage user roles, permissions, and access rights.
- Customize project templates and naming conventions.
- Perform data exports, imports, and merges across S3D projects.
- Run utilities and tools to check, maintain, and optimize databases.
- Schedule and manage project backups and recovery.
- Support development of reference data, including piping, equipment, and electrical catalogs.
- Oversee creation and modification of profiles, symbol libraries, and configuration settings.
- Coordinate with engineering disciplines to resolve modeling and database issues.
- Provide site support as required to resolve project-related engineering or system challenges.
- The S3D Administrator does not hold direct decision-making authority but provides technical recommendations to the Project Manager/Engineering Manager.
- Authorized to propose system/process improvements for enhanced project execution.
- Ensure smooth execution and timely completion of allocated project tasks in compliance with company standards, procedures, and best practices.
- Maintain the integrity and quality of S3D engineering data and deliverables.
- Ensure adherence to HSE and IMS requirements, protecting health, safety, and environment in all project activities.
- Report to the Project Manager/Engineering Manager and coordinate closely with discipline leads for technical support.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related discipline) from a recognized university.
- Minimum of 5 years of proven work experience in the oil & gas/petrochemical industry.
- Strong expertise in Hexagon Smart 3D (S3D) administration and project setup.
- Familiarity with SmartPlant suite (e.g., SmartPlant Review, SmartPlant P&ID) and Oracle databases.
- Experience supporting FEED and EPC projects in multi-discipline environments.
- Conversant with relevant international engineering and design standards.
