Position: IT Project Manager
About This Role
Our client is a leading IT solutions provider focused on serving top-tier Japanese banking clients. As they launch a major financial systems project across Asia, they are urgently seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their team in Hong Kong.
You will work in a close, collaborative partnership with Manager, helping to co-lead the project. Your success will depend on driving execution while managing complex stakeholder relationships across multiple countries. This position is ideal for a strong communicator who thrives in a professional, team-oriented environment and understands the nuances of Japanese corporate culture.
Responsibility
- Project Execution: Manage the full project lifecycle, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Resource Management: Effectively manage and control project personnel, budgets (costs, outsourcing fees), schedules (WBS, milestones), and assets (software, hardware, licenses).
- Risk & Issue Management: Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks. Respond decisively to all issues, planning and executing countermeasures to keep the project on track.
- Stakeholder Facilitation: Act as a key communication bridge, leading discussions, aligning project members and users, and facilitating consensus among diverse stakeholders.
Requirements
Experience & Knowledge
- Mandatory: Proven, hands-on experience as a Project Manager.
- Mandatory: A solid understanding of the purpose and deliverables of each phase in a traditional waterfall development process (no coding experience required).
- Mandatory: A basic understanding of the financial industry.
- Highly Preferred: Experience managing projects with budgets over HKD 5 million and involving 30+ stakeholders.
- Preferred: Knowledge of securities or market-related financial business.

- Mandatory: Business-level fluency in English.
- Mandatory: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Must be proactive, articulate, and empathetic.
- Mandatory: Cultural astuteness. You must be able to thrive in a Japanese corporate environmentbeing respectful, team-oriented, and professional while aligning closely with your manager's direction.
- Mandatory: Proactive and flexible, with a strong sense of accountability and the ability to adapt to changing needs.
- Preferred: Proficiency in Japanese is an advantage but not required.
Other Requirements
- Mandatory: Must be willing and able to travel to other Asian countries as required by the project.
- Urgency: This is an urgent requirement. Candidates with immediate or short-notice availability will be given strong preference.
