Position Description:
The Energy Controls Specialist will play a critical role in the design, implementation, optimization, and ongoing support of building automation systems (BAS) and energy control strategies. This role involves working closely with energy engineers, commissioning teams, and facility personnel to ensure systems are operating efficiently and aligned with energy performance goals.

Technical Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage energy conservation programs and initiatives focused on BMS optimization.
- Analyze building energy data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for energy reduction.
- Manage and optimize BMS systems including HVAC, lighting, and other mechanical systems to ensure maximum efficiency.
- Collaborate with engineering design team to develop and fine-tune controls strategies and sequences of operation.
- Lead commissioning, recommissioning, and retro-commissioning efforts, especially as related to BMS functionality.
- Design, set-up, and commission whole building energy monitoring systems.
- Ensure compliance with relevant energy regulations, standards, and certifications (e.g., Michigan Energy Code, LEED).
- Prepare reports and dashboards that communicate energy performance metrics to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with utility providers and external consultants on audits, incentives, and benchmarking.
Position Requirements:
- Degree in Engineering, Energy Management or related field. (preferred)
- 5 years experience in energy management, BMS or HVAC controls (preferred)
- Hands-on experience with major BMS platforms (e.g., Siemens, Johnson Controls, Schneider Electric, Honeywell, Tridium)
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, control sequences, and system operation
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Building Operator Certification (BOC), or Tridium Niagara AX/N4 Certification (preferred)
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex BMS and energy-related issues.
