Position: Direct Support Professional for Residential Care Home

Location: Southampton, Far Northeast

Salary: $17 per hour

Schedule: 3-11 weekdays, 9am-3p and/or 3pm-11p on weekends

We are currently seeking a dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our residential care team in Southampton, a tranquil and serene location in the Far Northeast. This role will involve providing comprehensive care and support to three remarkable residents, each with their unique needs and personalities.

About Our Residents:

  • Resident 1: Requires full support with daily activities due to limited mobility. This involves assistance with personal hygiene, meal preparation, and regular monitoring to ensure safety and well-being. This resident also presents some behavioral challenges, requiring patience, understanding, and a proactive approach to care.
  • Resident 2: A gentle and reserved individual, primarily spending time engaged with digital devices. This resident has specific health needs, including dysphagia, necessitating vigilant oversight to prevent dietary risks. Regular checks are essential to ensure safety and adherence to dietary guidelines.
  • Resident 3: An independent spirit who values self-sufficiency but benefits from a friendly presence and occasional assistance. This resident enjoys participating in community and household activities, embodying the vibrant spirit of our home.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing personalized care and assistance to residents, including help with mobility, personal hygiene, and daily routines.
  • Preparing meals in accordance with individual dietary needs and preferences.
  • Regularly monitoring the well-being of residents, performing checks every 15 to 30 minutes as needed.
  • Encouraging and facilitating participation in social activities, including outings to the Y for exercise, shopping, lunch, and yoga classes.
  • Collaborating with team members to create a warm, safe, and inviting environment for all residents.

Requirements:

  • A compassionate, patient, and resilient nature.
  • Previous experience in a caregiving role is preferred, though not essential.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate with colleagues and residents alike.
  • A commitment to promoting the independence and dignity of those in your care.
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks involved in the care and support of residents.
  • Valid Driver's License for transportation requirements related to resident activities.
  • PA Criminal Clearance within a year to ensure the safety and security of our residents.
  • Physical and 2-step PPD or Quantiferon (within a year) to confirm the health and readiness of the candidate for the caregiving role.
  • CPR and First Aid certification to prepare for any emergency situations that may arise.
