Position Overview:
The Plumber 1 operates under the supervision of the Mechanical Supervisor and is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing piping systems that transport water, sewage, and other fluids for residential, commercial, and industrial projects. This role ensures all plumbing works meet code, quality, and safety standards critical to project integrity and public health.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine plumbing layout and installation procedures.

  • Install, maintain, and repair hot and cold water systems, drainage systems, fixtures, valves, and piping networks.

  • Assemble, secure, and test pipes, fittings, and fixtures using hand and power tools.

  • Connect systems to water mains, septic tanks, and sewage systems.

  • Install and service plumbing appliances like sinks, toilets, showers, and water heaters.

  • Conduct pressure tests on plumbing systems to identify leaks or weaknesses.

  • Ensure compliance with building codes and safety regulations.

  • Identify and resolve plumbing faults or failures with minimal downtime.

  • Collaborate with other trades during project execution (e.g., electricians, HVAC technicians).

  • Document materials used, repairs conducted, and job progress for reporting.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

  • Adhere to site safety protocols and use proper PPE.

  • Perform other duties as assigned, based on project needs and schedule.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Certifications:

  • High School certificate required; technical training in plumbing preferred.

  • Valid plumbing license or certification (as per national/local regulations) preferred.

  • Valid drivers license or national ID.

  • Occupational Health and Safety certification is an advantage.

Experience:

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in commercial or residential plumbing.

  • Proven knowledge of piping materials (PVC, copper, PEX, steel) and fitting techniques.

Skills:

  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and blueprints.

  • Skilled in use of pipe cutters, threading machines, and pressure gauges.

  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.

  • Good communication, teamwork, and time management skills.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Other Requirements:

  • Work environment may include indoor and outdoor conditions, including exposure to heat, moisture, noise, and chemicals.

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds and work in confined spaces, on ladders, and at heights.

  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or holidays when needed.

  • Subject to background checks and project-based clearances.
