Position Overview:
The Cruise Ship Attendant 1 provides high-quality housekeeping, guest support, and sanitation services aboard a client-operated cruise vessel or offshore living quarters. This role ensures a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests and crew while upholding international hospitality and maritime hygiene standards.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and service guest cabins, crew quarters, and public areas including lounges, stairwells, and dining halls.

  • Make beds, replace linens and towels, and restock amenities as per client standards.

  • Sanitize bathrooms and high-contact surfaces in accordance with onboard sanitation protocols.

  • Handle laundry collection, sorting, and delivery, ensuring timely service to all assigned cabins.

  • Assist guests with luggage, directions, or special housekeeping requests.

  • Report maintenance issues (leaks, lights, malfunctioning HVAC, etc.) to technical support promptly.

  • Maintain cleanliness of outer decks, windows, passageways, and recreational zones.

  • Ensure trolleys, vacuums, and cleaning equipment are safely stored and sanitized daily.

  • Support emergency drills, safety checks, and evacuation routines as per maritime law.

  • Respect guest privacy while providing timely, discreet service.

  • Follow proper procedures for waste disposal and recycling on board.

  • Support event setup, dining room service, and other hospitality duties as needed.

  • Act as an ambassador of hospitalitycourteous, attentive, and committed to guest comfort.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Certifications:

  • KCSE certificate or equivalent.

  • Formal training in housekeeping, hospitality, or tourism preferred.

  • STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers) compliance is highly desirable.

  • Basic Safety Training and Crowd Management Certification (for maritime crew) preferred.

Experience:

  • 12 years of housekeeping or hospitality experience in hotels, resorts, or cruise ships.

  • Familiarity with marine or offshore environments is a strong asset.

  • Experience serving multicultural and international clientele.

Skills:

  • Excellent attention to detail and personal hygiene.

  • Strong interpersonal skills; warm, polite, and responsive to guest needs.

  • Ability to follow safety instructions and operate in confined or motion-sensitive spaces.

  • Basic proficiency in English; additional languages (e.g., French, Spanish, or German) are a plus.

  • Physically fit; able to lift, climb stairs, and work in shifts.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be willing to live aboard the vessel for extended periods, typically 26 months.

  • Clean criminal record and valid travel documents.

  • Vaccinations and health clearances as per maritime or port-state control regulations.
