Reports to: Fleet Maintenance Supervisor / Logistics Manager
Position Overview:
The Vehicle/Equipment Cleaner 1 operates under the supervision of the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for cleaning, washing, and detailing construction vehicles, plant machinery, and equipment. This role ensures that all company assets are well-presented, properly maintained, and meet safety and operational readiness standards.

Clean construction vehicles, trucks, and heavy equipment using hand tools, pressure washers, brushes, and cleaning agents.

Remove mud, oil, concrete, dust, and chemical residues from machinery surfaces and undercarriages.

Apply appropriate cleaning techniques to sensitive components like radiators, filters, and electronics.

Inspect equipment during cleaning for leaks, wear, damage, or required maintenance and report findings.

Clean and sanitize operator cabins, windows, seats, dashboards, and control panels.

Refill fluids like windshield wash or radiator water where authorized.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cleaning yard and washdown area.

Operate mobile pressure washers and other cleaning equipment safely.

Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to site safety guidelines at all times.

Keep records of cleaned vehicles and equipment, tagging those ready for service or requiring maintenance.

Safely handle and store cleaning chemicals, ensuring no environmental contamination.

Perform minor maintenance tasks, such as replacing filters or tightening fittings under supervision.

Support the fleet team in other duties, including moving vehicles or assisting mechanics when required.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Certifications:

KCPE or KCSE certificate preferred.

No formal training required, but basic mechanical or maintenance knowledge is an advantage.

Valid government-issued ID required.

Health and Safety training (e.g., NCA, OSHA, or equivalent) preferred.
Experience:

1+ year experience in vehicle, machinery, or industrial cleaning preferred.

Familiarity with construction equipment and materials is an added advantage.
Skills:

Ability to safely use hoses, sprayers, ladders, and cleaning tools.

Knowledge of different cleaning agents and their safe application.

Detail-oriented, with a focus on quality and thoroughness.

Good physical stamina and willingness to work in dusty, muddy, or noisy conditions.

Team player with strong time management and communication skills.
Other Requirements:

Must be able to work in outdoor environments, including in rain, sun, or high-traffic yards.

Ability to lift up to 25-30 pounds and stand or kneel for extended periods.

Willingness to work irregular hours, weekends, or evenings based on equipment schedules.

Must comply with company safety, environmental, and cleanliness standards.
