Position Overview:
The Fast Food Worker 1 plays a vital role in the preparation, cooking, packaging, and serving of fast food and beverages under the clients direction. The role is focused on speed, consistency, hygiene, and customer service, contributing to a smooth, efficient, and welcoming quick-service environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and assemble fast food items including burgers, fries, sandwiches, wraps, drinks, and sides.

  • Operate cooking equipment such as grills, fryers, and microwaves according to food safety standards.

  • Package food for dine-in, take-away, or delivery, ensuring order accuracy.

  • Maintain cleanliness of the work area, kitchen surfaces, utensils, and customer-facing counters.

  • Monitor food stock levels and alert supervisor when items are low or expired.

  • Greet customers, take orders at the counter or via POS, and process payments efficiently.

  • Restock condiments, paper goods, and beverage dispensers throughout the shift.

  • Follow portion control, cooking times, and food handling guidelines strictly.

  • Adhere to all client food safety protocols and public health regulations.

  • Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, checking dates and temperature compliance.

  • Handle customer complaints or errors courteously, escalating issues to supervisors where needed.

  • Support open/close procedures, including cleaning, waste disposal, and checklist completion.

  • Participate in routine safety drills, training, and team briefings.

  • Work in collaboration with the kitchen and front-of-house staff for seamless service.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Certifications:

  • KCSE certificate minimum.

  • Valid Food Handlers Certificate.

  • Certificate in Food Production or Hospitality is an advantage.

Experience:

  • 6 months to 1 year experience in a fast food outlet, food kiosk, or snack kitchen.

  • Familiarity with modern food prep equipment (deep fryers, grills, toasters, etc.) is a plus.

Skills:

  • Quick, efficient, and detail-oriented in a fast-paced environment.

  • Good verbal communication and basic customer service skills.

  • Basic math skills for handling money and portioning.

  • Ability to follow instructions, standard recipes, and safety procedures.

  • Team player with a positive, courteous attitude.

Other Requirements:

  • Physically able to stand for long hours and perform repetitive tasks.

  • Willing to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and remote client locations.

  • Must maintain personal hygiene, punctuality, and uniform compliance at all times.
