InDesign Compositor (Typesetter)

Job Description:

The Compositor/Typesetter is responsible for the precise arrangement of text and images within printed or digital publications. This role involves converting manuscripts into well-designed layouts that adhere to the publisher's specifications and industry standards.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for assessing the typesetting requirements of the customer
• Lays out the various elements of a book per client's specifications and required layout software
• Does quality check of the final deliverable files to ensure high-quality standard
• Ensure the integrity of the original content during layout, the styles are correct and consistent,
• images are correctly linked and captioned
• Carries out proofreading corrections and author's alterations
• Works with the quality staff to ensure that materials conform to accepted rules of style and format
• Assist in creating templates that may be used by the operators

Qualifications:

• At least 1 year of working experience in the related field
• Must have working knowledge in Adobe InDesign and Acrobat
• Knowledge in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop is an advantage
• A thorough understanding of typography and a keen eye for layouts is preferred
• Strong attention to details and have in depth knowledge of the publication industry
• Able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize them as per the urgency levels
• Applicants must be willing to work in Ortigas, Mandaluyong City
• Full time positions available
• Must be flexible in handling different book layout.
• Hybrid Work Set up is available after the training period.
• Familiar with various book-relevant features of InDesign like, INDB, Table of Contents, Indexing,
• Cross-references, endnotes/footnotes, text variables

Preferred Attributes:

• Experience working with various types of publications, including novels, childrens books, academic
• texts, and non-standardized projects.
• Flexibility and adaptability in handling diverse typesetting tasks.
• Experienced with book production cycles from template creation (parents/masters and styles),
• preflight, printer PDF, Prepress checks

Technical Requirements:

• Your own desktop or laptop
• Operating System: at least Windows 10 or Mac High Sierra
• Processor (required: minimum i3) and GHz (required: minimum 2.1 GHz)
• Memory: RAM (required:minimum 8GB)
• A consistent and stable Internet connection of at least 5 Mbps.

As a Compositor, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our creative and passionate Layout and Design Team, contributing your skills to bring our projects to life. Most of our projects are novels, kids books, academic titles and non-standardized projects.
